Kenya has been dealt a huge blow following the suspension of Harambee Stars offensive midfielder Ayub Timbe by Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In a communique to Football Kenya Federation, CAF suspended the Kenyan international for the upcoming three AFCON qualifier fixtures following an incident that occurred after the match, involving the player and one of the match officials during Harambee Stars’ match against Sierra Leone, away.

“I am disappointed with the verdict, which basically means that I won’t play in the upcoming three AFCON qualifiers,” said Timbe.

“As a player, I have always endeavored to adhere to the laws of the game, both off and on the pitch and it pains me to be denied the chance to represent my country, especially at this crucial period when we are trying to qualify for the 2019 AFCON.

“That notwithstanding, is that however much I don’t agree with the verdict, I respect the decision by CAF and won’t be appealing against it,” explained Timbe.

The news means that the player, who has also been fined USD 10,000 by the African Football Governing body will now miss Harambee Stars AFCON fixtures against Ghana and the two-legged matches against Ethiopia.
