NSL Review: Big win for MOSCA as Ushuru, Vihiga United falter

    Struggling NSL side MOSCA thumped Agro Chemicals 4-0 at their own backyard in a match played on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Vihiga United also failed to win away to GFE 105 while Ushuru held Modern Coast Rangers in Mombasa

    Four matches were played on Wednesday, with struggling MOSCA emerging the biggest winners, against all odds. MOSCA edged out Agro Chemicals 0-4 at the Chemelil Sports Complex. A brace by Olesuh Tetieh and a goal apiece by Sajad Aslam and Samuel Muringu were all MOSCA needed to grab their second win this season. MOSCA is however still bottom of the log with a paltry 11 points from 23 matches

    Vihiga United

    Vihiga United also failed to win in a 0-0 stalemate away to GFE 105. The draw was Vihiga’s seventh this season, with the league leaders consequently coming to within touching distance of second placed Nairobi Stima. The latter edged out Isibania 3-0 in a match played concurrently at the Karuturi Grounds. Patrick Ndwiga scored a brace before Vincent Odongo capped off a good day in office with a goal in the 82nd minute

    Nairobi Stima, now second on the log with 53 points from 25 matches, is only two points behind league leaders Vihiga United. The top two sides also boast of the meanest defence in the league, having each conceded only 12 goals apiece this season. Vihiga has however scored 38 goals, five more than Nairobi Stima

    Kenya Police also bounced back from a three match winless streak to dispatch FC Talanta 2-1. The win saw Police rise to eighth with 35 points from 24 matches

    Wazito

    Three matches were played yesterday, Thursday, September 14, with a double header at Camp Toyoyo being aired live on Bamba Sports. Wazito edged out Bidco United 2-1 in the first match. Pistone Mutamba and second half substitute Zachary Gathu were on target for Wazito. In the second match, Nairobi City Stars held Kibera Black Stars to a 1-1 draw. City Stars got on the front foot in the fourth minute through Ezekiel Odera. Black Stars would in the 74th minute restore parity for a share of the spoils

    At the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa, Ushuru played out a 1-1 draw with home side Modern Coast Rangers. Abdalla Mdeka opened the scored in the 24th minute for a 1-0 half time lead for the hosts. Alex Sunga would, however, restore parity in the 65th minute

    Ushuru is fourth on the log with 48 points from 24 matches, a point behind third placed KCB. Wazito is fifth with 46 points, but with a game in hand
