World Governing Body FIFA, in partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and Football Kenya Federation, is set to conduct an integrity workshop in August this year.
This was borne out of a three-day courtesy visit by a delegation from CAF and FIFA which culminated on March 28, 2019.
Led by FKF President Nick Mwendwa, the delegation comprising of CAF Chief Compliance Officer Abdulah Moustapha, and CAF Head of Safety and Security Christian Emeruwa, as well as FIFA Head of Integrity Vincent Ven, and FIFA Integrity Manager François Braun, paid a courtesy call to Ministry of Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb Amina Mohammed.
The meeting discussed possible ways of safeguarding the integrity of Kenyan football and the critical role that the government can play in the development of the sport. A reporting mechanism, which will allow individuals to report allegations of match manipulation in a confidential manner was also brainstormed.
“We have had very fruitful discussions on how best we can further improve the integrity of our leagues and develop the sport,” said FKF CEO Robert Muthomi.
“Consequently, FIFA has agreed to hold an integrity workshop for football stakeholders in August, geared towards equipping them with the necessary knowledge in the area of football integrity,” added the FKF General Secretary.
The workshop is scheduled for August this year with the exact dates to be communicated in due course.
