The Kenya U20 versus Sudan U20 match that was scheduled to be played this coming Sunday has been called off.
The move has been necessitated following Sudan’s decision to pull out of the friendly at the last minute, this despite confirming on several occasions that they would honour the fixture.
“It is sad that despite getting approval from FIFA for the match Sudan has decided to pull out of the match under unclear circumstances,” said FKF CEO Robert Muthomi.
“This notwithstanding FKF remains committed to youth development and will continue to not only organize meaningful friendlies for the junior national teams but also ensure that they take part in both regional and international tournaments.
“Back home, we urge our fans, as disappointing as it may be, to now focus on the Kenya versus Tanzania and Kenya versus Sudan matches which remain as earlier scheduled, this even as we engage the Sudanese FA on the untimely cancellation of the match, with an intention of ensuring that such an action is not replicated in the future,” added Muthomi.
The Kenya U20 versus Sudan U20 was to act as a curtain raiser for the Kenya versus Tanzania match set to be played on Sunday, 29, 2016 at Kasarani.
