The Kenya women team, Harambee Starlets, romped to the final of the ongoing CECAFA Women Championship after seeing off a tough Ethiopia’s Lucy 3-2 in the semis in Jinja, Uganda on Sunday 18 September 2016.
Starlets trailed the game 1-0 at half time following Abera’s goal in the 37th minute – the first goal conceded by the starlets at the tournament in four games.
Neddy Atieno then scored a brace in the 54th and 65th minutes before Carolyne Anyango topped it up for a 3-1 lead. Abera added one more for Ethiopia to end the game at 3-2.
Starlets will face Tanzania in the final set for Tuesday 20 September. The Tanzanians beat hosts Uganda 4-1 in the other semifinal.
