The National U17 football team is set to kick off her CECAFA U17 Championships campaign with a match against hosts and 2007 champions Burundi. The match is set to be played on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Muyinga Stadium starting 3.30 pm.
The team, which has been in camp since Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in Nairobi, jetted out to Burundi on Thursday, April 12, 2018, ahead of the tourney.
FKF Deputy Technical Director Michael Amenga, who will lead the team’s technical bench, has exuded confidence in the team’s abilities ahead of the opening match.
“We are both physically and psychologically ready for the match. We have had adequate preparations for the match and I am confident we will get a positive result against Burundi,” said coach Amenga. He will be assisted by Kibera Black Stars tactician Godfrey Oduor and former Kenyan International goalkeeper Jerim Onyango.
Kenya has been pooled in Group A alongside hosts Burundi, Ethiopia, and Somalia. Group B, meanwhile, comprises Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and Zanzibar.
