The National U17 football team kicked off her CECAFA U17 Championships campaign on a positive note, with a 4-0 win over hosts Burundi, in the opening match played on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

A second-half brace by St Anthony’s Kitale forward Isaiah Abwal, coupled with first-half strikes by Christopher Raila and Nicholas Omondi saw the junior side notch an early Group A lead.

Kenya will next face Ethiopia on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, before rounding up Group A action against Somalia on Friday, April 20, 2018.

The top two teams from each of the two groups will gain qualification to the semifinals, set to be played on April 25, with the final set to be played on April 29, 2018.
