Tunisian side Esperance forced Kenyan Premier League defending Champions Gor Mahia to a 0-0 draw in a first-round CAF Champions League tie staged at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.

Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr had fielded an attacking lineup that saw Meddie Kagere partner Jacques Tuyisenge upfront, with George Odhiambo and Francis Kahata providing width on the flanks.

The hosts deservedly dominated proceedings but were undone by good goalkeeping by the guests’ shot-stopper and hard luck, having missed a couple of clear-cut chances.

Second Leg

Esperance meanwhile, seemed content with a draw away from home and will be out to capitalize on home advantage in the second leg tie, set to be played on March 17, 2018, in Tunis.

The match is set to be a winner takes it all affair. The victor, on aggregate, will gain qualification to the lucrative group stages, while the loser will be handed a lifeline in the CAF Confederations Cup play-off round.
