20 players who are part of the National U15 football team have on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, kicked off training at the Wadi Degla Club in Runda ahead of their upcoming international assignments.

The players have been put up in Football Kenya Federation’s National Center of Excellence in Thome, Nairobi, where they will undertake a homeschooling program besides their normal training routine.

Their first training session involved a 20-minute beep-test to ascertain their level of fitness, after which the players took part in small sided games. They will henceforth hold two-training sessions a day.

“If we are to achieve our 2026 World Cup dream, then we have to lay down a foundation as early as now,” said FKF General Secretary Robert Muthomi.

“Through this program, we will have these players train together while they also further their studies. This way we’ll be better prepared when international assignments come through,” he added.

The team won the Shield Trophy at the 2016 U13 Southampton Cup and has this year been drafted into the U16 MIC Football Tournament, set to be played in April 2019, in Spain.
