Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has called out for more financial backing ahead of the upcoming assignments involving the senior national team, Harambee Stars, as well as the U23 team, the Emerging Stars.
This as he acknowledged receiving funding, albeit scarce, from the Ministry of Sports ahead of the two-legged AFCON qualifier against Ethiopia.
“We have received some funding from the government. This is however not enough and I am appealing for more support to enable the national team post positive results,” said the FKF President.
Harambee Stars is set to face Ethiopia in a two-legged Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier on Wednesday, October 10, at the Bahir Dar Stadium in Ethiopia and Sunday, October 14, 2018, at the MISC Kasarani.
Their U23 counterparts, the Emerging Stars, are also slated to face Mauritius in November 2018, in the preliminary round of the Olympic Qualifiers.
