Kenyan Premier League Champions Gor Mahia and FKF Shield Champions AFC Leopards will get their continental football campaigns underway this weekend.
Gor Mahia is set to face Equatorial Guinea side Leones Vegeterianos in a preliminary round CAF Champions League tie on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
AFC Leopards, on the other hand, will host Malagasy side FOSA Juniors in a CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round tie on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
Both matches have been scheduled to kick off at 3 pm with tickets set to retail at ksh 500 VIP and Ksh 200 Terraces.
In a presser at FKF House, Goal Project, officials of both clubs expressed optimism that they will get positive results.
“We have played build-up matches against KCCA, Al Hilal, Gor Mahia and Posta Rangers. We have done well (in the aforementioned matches) and I am confident that we will get a win on Sunday,” said AFC Leopards Secretary-General Oscar Igaida.
“We will try to win by a big margin so that the return leg can only be a formality,” asserted the evidently confident Ingwe official.
Gor Mahia Organizing Secretary Judith Anyango, on the other hand, rallied fans to come out and propel the teams to victory.
“I’d like to urge our fans to come out in large numbers and support the team,” she said, further noting that the club has set a target of reaching the group stages.
The second leg matches have been slated for between February 20 and 21, 2018, with the aggregate winners gaining qualification to the first round.
