Gor Mahia twice came from behind to beat Naivas 3-2, setting up a date with Posta Rangers in the round of 16 of the FKF Betway Cup. The match was played on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the MISC Kasarani.
Kingsley Owuor opened the scores for Naivas in the 12th minute. Gor Mahia’s Dickson Ambundo equalized in the 40th minute. However, Naivas, reclaimed their lead through Rashid Hassan in the 41st minute.
The second half was in favor of Gor Mahia with Lawrence Juma restoring parity in the 69th minute before Boniface Omondi sealed the win with a goal deep into stoppage time.
Bandari, Ulinzi Stars, KCB, AFC Leopards and Kariobangi also booked places in the tournament’s round of 16.
The tournament winner takes home KES 2 Million, while the runners up pockets KES 1 Million. The third-placed and fourth-placed teams get KES 750,000 and KES 500,000 respectively.
