Harambee Starlets bow out of AWCON 2016

    AWCON 2016 debutants Harambee starlets went down 1-3 to Mali in their second Group B match of the Africa Women Cup of Nations staged at the Omnisport Stadium in Limbe on Wednesday 23 November.

    A Basira Toure goal on the 50th minute in between a Ssebe Coulibaly brace in the 37th and 62nd minute sealed the Starlets fate, before Cheris Avilia grabbed a consolation.

    Earlier on the Starlets had lost out 3-1 to Ghana, albeit controversially, in their first match of the competition played on 20th November 2016 at the same venue.

    Kenya is bottom of Group B with no point. Next up is tournament favorites Nigeria in the final Group B match on Saturday 26 November.

    Starting XI: Samantha Akinyi, Ann Oluoch, Wendy-Ann Achieng, Elizabeth Mwikali, Irene Ogutu, Omondi Carolyne Anyango, Esse Akida, Cherise Avilla, Vivian Aquino, Mercy Achieng and Mary Kinuthia.
