Kenya picked up a 2-1 win over New Zealand in her first match of the four-nation 2018 Hero Intercontinental Cup.

The match was played on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Mumbai Football Arena in India.

New Zealand were the first on the scoresheet through a strike by Sarpreet Singh in the 42nd minute. Cliffton Miheso, however, restored parity at the stroke of half time.

Ovella Ochieng, who starred in Kenya’s 1-0 friendly win over Equatorial Guinea, delivered the important goal in the 68th minute to see Kenya snatch all three points.

Harambee Stars is consequently second in the four team log behind hosts India, who edged out Chinese Taipei 5-0 in the opening match of the tourney. The two will face off on Monday, June 4, 2018, in a match that will decide which team temporarily occupies top spot ahead of Kenya’s final match against Chinese Taipei on June 8, 2018.

The top two teams will face of in a final match, slated for June 10, 2018.
