    The National Football team, Harambee Stars, went down 2-1 to Iraq in a friendly match played on October 5, 2017, at the Basra International Stadium in Iraq.

    Iraq went ahead in the 17th minute when Hekmat Nouri scored from the spot after Ulinzi Stars forward Samuel Onyango had brought down Hikmat Azeez in the 18-yard box.

    The hosts then doubled the lead at the stroke of halftime, defender Ahmed Ibrahim rising high to nod home a cross from the right flank after a short corner.

    Girona forward Michael Olunga halved the deficit in the 85th minute from 25 yards out to arouse hopes of a comeback, but the hosts held on for a 2-1 win.
