The Kenya U17 National Team safely arrived in Egypt on Thursday, April 4, 2019, ahead of the Union of North African Federations (UNAF) U18 Tournament.

The team jetted out of the country for Egypt through Ethiopia on Wednesday and is set to hold a light recovery session on Thursday evening as focus shifts to the five-nation tournament.

“It’s a new opportunity for us to showcase our talents against top opposition,” said the team’s captain Arnold Onyango, as he led his teammates out of the airport.

“We played at the CECAFA U17 Championships in Burundi and the U17 AFCON Qualifiers in Tanzania last year, which was a good platform. Competition is stiffer here but I am confident that we will pick positive results,” he added.

Kenya will come up against Algeria, Morocco and hosts Egypt in a round robin format. Tanzania has also been drafted into the tourney.

The Junior Stars had earlier on Monday tested themselves against Uganda’s U17 match at the Utalii Grounds. The match ended in a barren draw.
