Nakumatt gained a 1-0 advantage over Ushuru in the first leg of the KPL Promotion playoff staged at Camp Toyoyo on Friday, October 19, 2018.

Tom Adwar scored the lone goal in the 20th minute with a long drive from a free kick, a lead Nakumatt would hold onto despite Ushuru’s late surge for an equalizer.

The KPL side will thus head into the second leg on the front foot with the winner on aggregate set to join NSL Champions Western Stima and second-placed KCB in the 2019 top tier Kenyan Premier League.

The second leg is set to be played on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at the MISC Kasarani.
