The National U17 football team has today, May 1, 2018, jetted back from Burundi where the team took part in the CECAFA U17 Championships.

The junior side settled for a fourth-place finish, following a 4-1 loss to Uganda in the third-place playoff played on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Ngozi stadium in Burundi.

Kenya had earlier on April 25, 2018, suffered a 2-1 defeat to eventual champions Tanzania in the semifinals played at the Muyinga Stadium.

Age Group National Teams

FKF Deputy Technical Director Michael Amenga, who headed the team’s technical bench, expressed satisfaction with the exposure his charges gained in the course of the tourney.

“We have a long-term plan of nurturing talent through age group teams, which are a conveyor belt to the senior national team,” said Mr. Amenga

The team forms part of FKF’s long-term football development agenda, which involves giving the youth a sporting chance early in their football development life cycle.
