The Kenya U17 team, Rising Stars, are out of the running for a place in 2017 U-17 African Championship after a narrow 2-1 loss to their Cameroon counterparts in a second round reverse game played at Kasarani on Saturday 20 August 2016.
Despite going ahead in the eleventh minute through Eric Mureithi, for a 1-0 halftime lead, the Kenyan youngsters bowed to the experience of Cameroon in the second half going down to Zobo Thiery and Abessola Manga goals.
The Rising Stars went out 9-1 on aggregate having lost the first leg 7-0 in a game played in Limbe, Cameroon two weeks earlier.
“The lads played much better and have really improved. We hope to keep the team together and play a couple of friendlies in future,” said Rising Stars coach Andreas Spier who is also the Football Kenya Federation Technical Director
