The National U20 football team, Rising Stars, is set to face Rwanda in the first round of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The match is set to be played on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos starting 3 pm, with the second leg set to be played between April 20, and April 22, 2018.

Coach Stanley Okumbi is satisfied with the team’s preparations ahead of the match, and expressed confidence that the Rising Stars will give a good account of themselves against Rwanda.

“We are both physically and psychologically ready. The players are upbeat and psyched up, and I am confident we will get a positive result,” said the Coach.

The Rwanda U20 team felt the field of play on Saturday head of Sundays U20 AFCON Qualifier

Preparations for the qualifier kicked off on Monday, February 19, 2018, with close to 100 players getting a chance to audition for a place on the team.

The players were scouted from the recently concluded Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Youth Tournament as well as the FKF Leagues. The team hit camp on February 26, ahead of qualifier.

Should Kenya edge past Rwanda, a two-legged fixture against Zambia will be in line for the Rising Stars in the second round.
