Kariobangi Sharks easily went past Kenpoly FC, but will face a formidable Sofapaka in the round of 16

Sofapaka will be up against Kariobangi Sharks in the highlight match of the GOtv Shield round of 16 scheduled for this weekend, Saturday July 22 and Sunday July 23 2017. AFC Leopards will also be in action next week, Wednesday 26, July, against Bidco United

Sofapaka will take on last year’s second runners up Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium, on the back of a convincing 1-0 win over Western Stima in the round of 32. Kariobangi Sharks, on the other hand, got an easy 2-0 win over Kenpoly FC, despite fielding a second-string side. The two sides played out a barren draw in their KPL first leg fixture, and it will be interesting to see how this fixture goes, being a knockout. Sharks is fifth on the KPL log, only two points ahead of sixth placed Sofapaka

In the meantime, defending champions Tusker will face Butterfly tomorrow, July 22, at the Kinoru Stadium in Meru. Butterfly got easy passage to the round of 16 after their round of 32 opponents Mwatate United failed to take to the pitch. Tusker, on the other hand, got a narrow 1-0 win against Palos

Vihiga United

Meanwhile, at the Mumias Sports Complex, Vihiga United will tackle neighbours Kakamega Homeboyz tomorrow, Saturday, July 22, for a place in the quarters. Vihiga United forward Keiphas Barasa will be up against his immediate former employers after making a midseason switch to the Vihiga County sponsored side. The team dispatched Ushuru in the round of 32 on post-match penalties after a stalemate in normal time while Kakamega Homeboyz went through at the expense of Zetech University

Bandari

Coastal side Bandari, who felled giants Gor Mahia in the round of 32, will be at home to take on Nakumatt at the Mbaraki Sports Club. Bandari shocked tournament favourites Gor Mahia in Thika, winning the match on post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time. Nakumatt, meanwhile, went past Modern Coast Rangers, also on penalties, after a dull stalemate in normal time

There will be a double header at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium tomorrow, July 22. Division One Zone A side Eldoret Youth will host their Zone B counterparts Savannah FC at 1 pm before NSL sides GFE 105 and Wazito square it out in the second match

AFC Leopards

On Wednesday, July 26, AFC Leopards will be up against Bidco United at the Thika sub-county Stadium. Ingwe will be looking to use the tournament to regain form, having performed rather dismally in the league. Ingwe got a convincing 2-0 win over Nairobi Stima in the round of 32 while Bidco United easily went past lower tier side Rainforest FC
