Waa Girls and Shimba Hills FC are the Coast Region Chapa na Safaricom Youth Tournament Champions after wins over Breezham and Solwogidi respectively in the finals played on Sunday, January 21, 2018.

Forward Ali Hamisi notched a brace, with Said Msaji adding a third in the second half to see Shimba Hills emerge Champions with a 3-0 win over Breezham.

Earlier on, Waa Girls had dispatched Solwogidi by a similar margin. Salama Mariga, Violet Akoth, and Jonathan Nelly were on target for Waa.

The two teams consequently get a chance to represent Coast Region in the national finals set to be held in Nairobi later this year.

Individual Awards

Shimba Hills custodian Mohamed Juma was named the best goalkeeper while his Counterpart Ali Kibwebwe took home the MVP prize. Breezham forward Samuel Jeffa notched the top scorer’s prize.

In the girls’ category, Waa girls’ Susan Oganga was the best goalkeeper, while her counterpart Salama Mariga walked away with the golden boot. Solwogidi’s Mwalimu Mwamajuma was named the Most Valuable Player.

Safaricom has invested Sh100 million towards the program which includes Sh10m worth of prizes as well as funds for the renovation of select community pitches through a legacy programme.
