The Kenya Women National team, Harambee Starlets, has been named the Women’s Team of the Year at the Sports Personality of the year (SOYA) awards gala held on Thursday night.
The team made its maiden appearance at the Africa Women Cup of Nations, falling at the first hurdle. The Starlets also made it to the final of the CECAFA Women Championships where they lost to Tanzania, albeit controversially. Forward Mwanahalima Dogo Adam was named the most promising girl.
Meanwhile, Tusker FC was second in the Men Team of the year category, which was won by the Kenya Rugby Seven’s team. Harambee Stars forward Michael Olunga, who plies his trade in Sweden for IF Djurgadens, missed out on the Sportsman of the year gong.
