Bandari sailed through to the quarterfinals of the SportPesa Shield following a 5-4 win in post-match penalties over Gor Mahia in their round of 16 match played on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at the Mbaraki Sports Club.

The Coastal side had shown real intentions of making it through when William Wadri gave them a 56th-minute lead. Dennis Oliech would, however, restore parity in the 75th minute, the match ending 1-1 in regulation time.

Bandari then went on to win 5-4 in post-match penalties, consequently booking a place in the quarterfinals of the knockout competition.

Earlier on, Premier League sides Western Stima and Kariobangi Sharks had booked places in the quarterfinals of the competition. AFC Leopards, meanwhile, dropped out at the hands of Division One League side Bungoma Superstars.
