Thika United retain topflight status with win on aggregate over Ushuru

Thika United will grace the 2018 top tier league, after a 2-1 aggregate win over Ushuru in a promotion/relegation playoff played on Thursday, December 21, 2017, and Sunday, December 24, 2017.

The first leg match played at the Thika sub-county Stadium ended 2-1 in favor of Thika United. Onwudi Chibueze and Saad Musa were on target for the hosts, with returning Ushuru forward Mohammed Hassan scoring the taxmen’s equalizer.

Having an upper-hand, Thika United held onto the slim advantage for a 0-0 stalemate in the second leg played at the Narok County Stadium to guarantee themselves a place in next season’s top flight.

Ushuru, meanwhile, will take part in the second tier FKF National Super League in 2018, alongside relegated sides Western Stima and Muhoroni Youth.
