The National U20 Women team now has one foot in the first round of the 2018 Women’s  U20 World Cup qualifiers after brushing aside hosts Botswana 7-1 in a match played today, July 21, 2017, at the Lobatse Sports Complex in Botswana

The Junior Starlets raced into an early lead courtesy of a goal by Martha Amunyolete in the 10th minute before Cynthia Shilwatso doubled Kenya’s lead nine minutes later. The home side, however, halved the deficit at the stroke of half-time, Leano Atlang getting the better of goalkeeper Lillian Awuor via a set piece

The floodgates would then open in the second half, Marjoleen Nekesa helping herself to a brace in the 61st and 66th minute before Captain Corazon Aquino and Diana Wacera also put their names on the scoresheet. Martha Amunyolete would then grab her brace in the 90th minute, the final nail in the hosts’ coffin

The return leg will be played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on August 5, 2017, with the aggregate winner set to face Ethiopia in the first round
