Vihiga United has been crowned the 2017 FKF National Super League Champions, after a 1-0 win over Ushuru in a match played on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the Mumias Sports Complex
Harambee Stars call-up Benard Ochieng struck the decisive goal with a header off a corner kick just after the half-hour mark to see Vihiga gain a maiden slot in next years Sportpesa Premier League.
Meanwhile, at the Narok County Stadium, Wazito FC whitewashed Kenya Police 5-1 to book a slot in next season’s top tier league. Dennis Gicheru put Wazito on the front foot from the spot, before Kennedy Otijo doubled Wazito’s advantage. Police pulled one back to half the deficit, but Zachary Gathu would restore Wazito’s two-goal cushion to make matters 3-1 at halftime.
Wazito upped the ante in the second half, scoring two more goals through Kennedy Otijo and Dennis Gicheru. A late slip by Wazito Keeper Steve Njunge would hand Police a second, but the job was already done
Vihiga United and Wazito consequently gain automatic promotion to next season’s top flight league, while Ushuru will face off with Thika United in a playoff to determine the third promotion slot
