NSL Review: Wazito, Ushuru, Vihiga register wins as MOSCA lose footing

Wazito, Ushuru, Vihiga United, KCB, Nairobi Stima and Nakuru All Stars all registered crucial wins in match week 13 of the FKF National Super League, played on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May 2017. Struggling MOSCA, meanwhile, lost further footing when they dished out yet another walkover against Nairobi City Stars

Wazito showed strong intent in their quest for promotion with a 0-2 win on the road against Modern Coast Rangers. Pistone Mutamba and Samson Ndegwa were on the scoresheet for Wazito. The win cements Wazito’s status at the summit with 28 points from 13 games

Ushuru

Hot on Wazito’s heels is Ushuru and Vihiga United, both tied at 27 points but separated by goal difference.  The two sides, both having a game in hand against Wazito, won their respective matches to up pressure on the league leaders. Ushuru edged out Kenya Police 2-0 at Camp Toyoyo. A goal a piece by Benson Amianda and Roosevelt Blaty were enough to seal maximum points for the taxmen. Vihiga United, on the other hand, beat FC Talanta 2-1 at the Mumias Sports Complex. An own goal by Dan Guya and a goal by Rashid Kyambadde rendered Talanta’s Michael Omachi’s strike a mere consolation

Fourth-placed Nairobi Stima bounced back from the stalemate against Palos to edge out Agro Chemicals 1-0 at the Cray Fish Grounds in Naivasha. Victor Omune scored on the half hour mark, a lead Stima held onto to stay fourth with 25 points from 12 games

At the Thika sub-county Stadium, home side Bidco United slipped to 18th after going down 1-2 to KCB. Dennis Nganga and Ousmane Luiz were on the scoresheet for KCB while Bidco United got their consolation through Kevin Migele. KCB is now fifth with 24 points from 11 matches while Bidco United is at 18th place with a paltry five points from 13 games

Isibania

In Awendo, Isibania’s three-match winning streak was scathed when the newbies narrowly lost 1-2 to Nakuru All Stars. James Mukhwana and Joseph Chege scored a goal apiece for Nakuru All Stars to take the Nakuru-based side to sixth with 21 points from 13 matches. Lucas Waitere scored Isibania’s consolation

On Sunday, St Joseph Youth twice came from behind to force a 2-2 draw with GFE 105 at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. Geoffrey Ochieng and Zeka Wakoli scored for GFE 105, with Dennis Dodi and Adam Fadhili putting their names on the scoresheet for St Joseph Youth. Meanwhile, struggling MOSCA yet again dished out a walk over against Nairobi City Stars. The former is rooted at the bottom of the standings with only three points from 12 matches
