Curtains came down on the Sports building and experience exchange coaching workshop at the Barclays Sports Club on Monday, April 23, 2018.
The workshop, which targeted grassroots coaches, was born out of a partnership between Football Kenya Federation and the Colombian Embassy in Kenya.
Monday’s session saw Colombia FA coach Christopher Moreno take the participating coaches through a practical session, with a focus on attacking and defending drills.
“We are hoping to share our Colombian way of coaching with the Kenyan coaches,” said coach Christopher Moreno.
Coaching Courses
The workshop brought together, among others, former Kenyan international footballers who have since made a step into coaching.
Dan Makori, who in the recent past turned out for Gor Mahia FC, lauded FKF’s efforts in coaches training while noting that the workshop will better equip him in his line of duty.
“I am grateful for this opportunity. I have learned a lot from the (Basic/Advanced coaching) course I undertook recently, as well as this refresher workshop,” said coach Makori.
“These workshops will definitely make me a better coach,” asserted the Wajiji FC coach.
Colombian Ambassador to Kenya, Amb. Elizabeth Taylor, meanwhile, lauded the partnership as a step in the right direction for Kenyan football.
“We are happy to partner with FKF. I am confident that this partnership will realize mutual growth,” said Amb. Taylor.
U15 National team
As part of the partnership, the coaches from the Colombian embassy will on Tuesday April 24, 2018, have a session with the National U15 team at the Juja Preparatory and Senior School, an FKF Center of Excellence.
