Gor Mahia went down 2-1 to Rayon Sports in their fifth match of the CAF Confederations Cup group stages played on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the MISC Kasarani.

Bonfilscaleb Bimenyimana shot the guests into a second-minute lead when he got to the end of a low cross by Eric Rutanga. Francis Mustafa would restore parity in the 24th minute but it’s the guests who had the last laugh courtesy of a second-half freekick by left back Eric Rutanga.

A late surge by the hosts failed to yield fruit, Rayon Sports holding on to put themselves in contention for a place in the quarterfinals of the competition.

Gor Mahia still tops Group D with eight points, similar to second-placed USM Alger. The latter has however scored a goal less. Rayon is third with six points while Yanga is fourth with four points from five matches.
