Kariobangi Sharks edged out Gor Mahia 4-2 in post-match penalties to book a place in the semifinals of the FKF SportPesa Shield.
The match, played on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, had ended 0-0 in regulation time, despite Sharks missing a myriad of clear cut chances. Duke Abuya, however, struck the decisive penalty to set up a semifinal date with Ulinzi Stars.
Also through to the next round is Sofapaka, who came from behind to dump Tusker out of the competition. Jackson Macharia had given Tusker an early lead that was canceled out by Umaru Kasumba minutes later. Second half substitute Ezekiel Okare then scored the winning goal in the 70th minute to see Batoto Ba Mungu through.
Sofapaka will thus face AFC Leopards, who went past Kenya Police on Saturday.
