Kenya U23 national team coach Francis Kimanzi has exuded confidence in his charges ahead of the Emerging Stars’ Africa U23 Cup of Nations Qualifier against Mauritius.
This as he noted that the players are in high spirits and raring to go, especially after the arrival on Monday of five foreign-based players initially called up to the team.
“The players are motivated and very ready for the task ahead,” said the Emerging Stars coach.
“We have had very positive progress, and it’s been made even better with the arrival of the foreign-based players. We now have a full squad in camp free of injuries and this gives us extra motivation,” he added.
Mauritius, meanwhile had a feel of the field of play on Tuesday evening upon their arrival into the country, with coach Sakoor Boodhan noting that his charges are also equally well prepared.
“Of course, Kenya is a strong side, but we are ready for the match and I am hoping that we will get a positive result,” said Mauritius coach Sakoor Boodhan.
The match kicks off at 4 pm at the MISC Kasarani with the second leg scheduled for Sunday in Mauritius. The winner on aggregate will face either of Sudan or Seychelles in the second round.
Ticket prices have been set at KES 100 for the terrace section and KES 500 for VIP.
The final U23 AFCON tournament, meanwhile, will act as a qualifier to the 2020 Summer Olympics.
