Curtains have come down on a ten-day CAF D License (Basic/Advanced Coaching Course) on Friday, April 12, 2019, which brought together 35 grassroots coaches from FKF Southern Branch.
The course, sponsored by FKF Southern branch and East African Portland Cement Company, saw coaches drawn from Kitengela and Athi-river subranches, and those whose football clubs and academies take part in the Southern Branch Leagues, earn certification in their first step into coaching.
“FKF has given emphasis to coaching education, which is the foundation of youth development,” said FKF Southern Branch Chairman Anthony Makau.
“I want to thank East Africa Portland Cement Company for supporting this initiative. We are looking forward to more of such partnerships which contribute directly to football development at the grassroots,”
“We are in the process of starting our U13/15 leagues as a Branch, and coaching education is the first step in this long term football development process,” he added.
Led by instructor Dan Makori, the coaches were taken through Basic Coaching and were duly certified by the Federation.
