The Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom All-Stars are set to watch Barcelona match against Getafe tonight, Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Camp Nou, Barcelona.
This comes ahead of their second friendly game against Gimnastic de Tarragona set for tomorrow, Monday as part of their ten-day tour and training in Spain.
The 32 boys and girls left Nairobi on 6th May 2019 and have been conducting their football training at Futbol Salou grounds located in Cambrils under the watchful eyes La Liga certified coaches; Ismael Rodriguez, Jose Ruiz, Luis Vincente Mateo and Oliver Dodd who is the La Liga representative to Kenya.
“I am so thankful and glad for all these lifetime opportunities. I never imagined that one day I will set my foot in Camp Nou and see Iniesta Play. I am going back home motivated with more skills and stories to share with my teammates,” said Miriam Lutomia, All-Stars player from Barcelona Ladies of Laikipia.
The team will tomorrow play their second friendly match against Gimnastic de Tarragona which plays in the second division of the Spanish La Liga tournament before resuming their daily trainings.
Since arrival, the All-Stars have had regular football trainings at Futbol Salou, played one friendly match against Reus Deportiu and toured the great Camp Nou stadium and Barcelona city.
“The boys and girls have been going through a lot of key learnings since arrivals which are truly transformational. This is what we are passionate about as a company. They still have more days left and we hope they will utilize them to learn as much. The 32 players – 17 boys and 15 girls were scouted from across the country during the eight regional finals of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom tournament. Their technical bench consists of two coaches – Pauline Awuor of Acakoro Ladies and Ted Amumala of Lugari Blue Saints. The two were selected through a draw conducted on 28th April at Gymkhana Grounds during the Nairobi regional finals.
