Dependable Harambee Stars defender Joash Onyango will sit out the team’s opening match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria through injury.

Joash injured his ankle in Harambee Stars’ final training session, and will not be fit in time for Sunday’s showdown.

“Joash Onyango twisted his ankle in training yesterday. We will miss him for our match against Algeria, but hopefully he will be fit in time for our second match,” said Harambee Stars coach Sébastien Migné.

“Of course it is difficult for us, especially because we also lost Brian Mandela to injury. We will, however, find a solution as we have enough depth,” he added
