The Kenya National team, Harambee Stars, got back in training on Monday evening in preparation for their second Group C match against Tanzania.
The team got off their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a sour note, losing 2-0 to Algeria. A goal apiece by Baghdad Bounedjah and Riyad Mahrez in a below-par first half so Kenya fall in their return to the continental scene.
Coach Sébastien Migné, however, noted that there a lot of positives to be picked from an improved second-half performance and thus the team has everything to fight for in their remaining Group C matches against Tanzania and Senegal.
“Our performance in the first half was not the best. We improved in the second half after making some changes, and I was impressed,” said coach Migné.
He, in the meantime, expressed optimism that Joash Onyango and will be fit in time for the team’s final match against Senegal.
“Joash is not ready yet for Tanzania but hopefully we will have him in our final Group match,” he said.
The match against Tanzania is set to be played on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.
