The Kenya U15 National Team will on Friday, August 16, 2019, take on Somalia in the opening match of the CECAFA U15 Championships in Eritrea. The match kicks off at 2 pm EAT.
The tournament witnessed the withdrawal of Djibouti earlier in the week and has been reorganized into two groups with five teams each.
Kenya had initially been pooled in Group A alongside Burundi, Somalia and hosts Eritrea. Group B comprised of Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, while Tanzania, Sudan, and Djibouti made up Group C.
Following the reorganized draw, Group A will comprise of Kenya, Sudan, Burundi, Somalia and hosts Eritrea while Group B now has Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.
It is now all systems go for the opener, which will pit the FKF Center of Excellence against Somalia.
The Junior Stars will next face Sudan in matchday 2 on Sunday, then Burundi on Tuesday next week before winding up their campaign against hosts Eritrea on Thursday, August 22, 2019.
The top two teams from each group will automatically qualify to the semis, set to be played on August 28, while the final has been scheduled for August 30, 2019, in Asmara.
