The Kenya women national team has safely jetted back into the country on Sunday, October 6, 2019, from Ghana where the team took part in an Olympics Qualifier against the Black Queens.
Harambee Starlets held out for a 0-0 draw in Accra on Friday, setting the stage for an entertaining second leg whose winner proceeds to the tournament’s fourth qualifying round.
“Of course playing a draw away to Ghana was a positive result for us. It gives us a good starting point for yet another positive outcome in the second leg on Tuesday,” said Starlets’ coach David Ouma.
Forward Mwanahalima Adam, meanwhile, expressed optimism that they will finish the job on Tuesday.
“We played according to the coach’s instructions and achieved the result we wanted. Our hope is that fans will come out in large numbers to support us on Tuesday as we look to get a win that we really need,” she said.
The return match has been scheduled for Tuesday, with fans set to gain free entry to the match that kicks off at 4 pm EAT.
