Harambee Starlets entered the Semi-Finals after they thrashed Djibouti 12-0 on Tuesday, November 19, 2019,at the Azam Sports Complex in Chamazi, Tanzania.
Starlets dominated the first half as team forward, Vivian Nasaka opened the game with a goal at the 13th minute, with a brace follow up from Forward Jentrix Shikangwa at the 14th and 17th minute. Mwanalima Jereko added a goal at the 34th minute as Janet Bundi sealed the first half with a goal at the 45th minute.
In the second half, Mercy Airo, made a hat-trick after scoring in the 53rd, 61st and 65th minute respectively. Jentrix Shikangwa also sealed her hat-trick at the 56th minute of the game and scored another goal on the 85th minute.
Team Forward, Mwanalima Adam was not left out as she managed a hat-trick in the second half after scoring in the 87th and 90th minute.
Head Coach David Ouma congratulated his team for a wonderful performance in the current CECAFA Women Championships.
“First of all, I thank the players for the good performance in the group stage against Ethiopia and Djibouti,” said Coach David Ouma.
He continued, “We are prepared for the game tomorrow against Uganda as we expect to salvage maximum points.”
Starlets are up against Uganda on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at the Azam Sports Complex in Chamazi, Tanzania.
Semifinals have been scheduled for Saturday, November 23, while the third-place Playoff and final will be played on Monday, November 25, 2019.
