Harambee Starlets sealed a top spot finish in Group B of the ongoing CECAFA Women Championships in Tanzania, consequently booking a semifinal berth against Burundi on Saturday.
Starlets beat Uganda 3-0, courtesy of a goal apiece by Mercy Airo, Mwanalima Adam and Gentrix Shikangwa, completing a perfect group stage outing.
“I want to commend the determination in the players. They knew what was at stake and gave their best. They have to keep improving and maintain their best form,” said coach David Ouma after yesterday’s match.

“We scored early in the game. That gave us the confidence to manage the game. I am also glad that we rested some players and gave others a chance. Mercy Airo, Topista Situma and Gentrix Shikangwa are just some of the players who took their chance yesterday,” he added.
Up next is a semifinal match against Burundi on Saturday, as Uganda face hosts Tanzania in the other semi. The final, meanwhile, has been slated for Monday, November 25, 2019.
