Harambee Starlets coach David Ouma has lauded his team for their performance at the just concluded Turkish Women’s Cup where they came third behind Chile and Ghana.
Starlets beat Northern Ireland 2-0 in their opening match before falling to Chile (5-0) and Ghana (3-1), with the coach noting that there are a lot of positives to be picked from the experience.
“I would like to congratulate my players for playing well despite calling them when the Women Premier League clubs were in pre-season,” said Coach Ouma.
He further applauded Sylvia Makungu for her performance in her debut for the National team during the tournament.
“Sylvia Makhungu has showcased her skill as she grabbed her opportunity as she played for the National team for the first time during the tournament,” he added.
“I believe we are now prepared to face Tanzania for AWCON qualifiers in April from the experience we have attained in this tournament,” said Coach Ouma.
Starlets finished third in the Turkish Women’s Cup group stages with Sheryl Angach winning the best mid-fielder award.
