The Kenya National team, Harambee stars, welcomed the long-awaited return of football with a 2-1 win over Zambia in an international friendly match played on Friday, October 9, 2020, at the Nyayo Stadium.
Stars were the better side in the first half and deservedly went ahead in the 19th minute courtesy of an own goal by Tandi Mwape.
Cliff Nyakeya added a second in the 37th minute, after being put through by the ever-impressive Kenneth Muguna.
The visitors upped the ante in the second half, pulling one back in the 79th minute, a header by Emmanuel Chabula. They could have pulled level, were it not for a disallowed goal as the match wore on.
The home side, nonetheless, held on to secure a morale-boosting win, ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Comoros in November.
