Harambee Stars were held by Egypt in a 1-1 draw on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the MISC Kasarani.
Magdi Kafsha opened the scores with his goal in the 2nd minute which saw Kenya attempt to equalize the goal in the 10th minute through Michael Olunga’s kick that went over the bar.
Johnstone Omurwa’s corner kick landed at Daniel Sakari who’s attempt for goal through a header fell naught in the 11th minute. Not so long after, Michael Olunga made an attempt for a goal through a pass from Eric Ouma that missed the net.
In the 40th minute, Masud Juma’s goal was overruled by the referee who indicated an offside, closing off the first half at 1-0 in favor of Egypt.
Upon resumption, Abdalla Hassan equalized for Harambee Stars in the 69th minute. In the 75th minute, Harambee Stars were reduced to 10 men after Johnstone Omurwa was sent off with a red card. Both sides failed to break the tie as the final whistle closed the scores at 1-1.
