Tusker came from behind to get the win they needed over Ulinzi Stars in their BetKing Premier League round 23 fixture to book a slot in the 2020/21 CAF Champions League. The match ended 4-1.
Going into the match, the brewers had a one-point advantage over their challengers KCB, who likewise had a match against Nzoia at the Ruaraka Grounds.
Boniface Onyango delivered a scare when he netted the opening goal for home side Ulinzi Stars in the 11th minute but an own goal from Brian Birgen nine minutes later gave Tusker a lifeline, the first half ending 1-1.
Upon resumption, Brian Marita put Tusker on the front foot through a tap in from Henry Meja’s delivery in the 46th minute.
Ulinzi fought back to destroy the party but as the match seemed to be heading for a 2-1 score, two quick fire goals from Kevin Okoth and Chrispinus Onyango came through for a 4-1 final score.
