FC Talanta sits pretty at the top of the Betika National Super League after edging Nairobi Stima 1-0 in their midweek fixture played on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Camp Toyoyo.
Ken Mutembei tried applying pressure for FC Talanta in the 9th minute striking for goal three times in a row but Nairobi Stima’s defense proved impermeable, forcing FC Talanta to wait for the lead goal.
In the 21st minute, Jairo Michael almost nicked the lead for FC Talanta but the ball bounced off the crossbar and back into play, maintaining the scores at 0-0.
Four minutes before the first half whistle was blown, Fortune Omoto made an attempt for goal as he received the ball into the area but was dispossessed by the FC Talanta defense stopping the potential attack.
After the intermission, Francis Kahiro displayed an immense skill of play in the 64th minute tackling past Nairobi Stima’s defense to create a chance for goal but the ball hit the post bouncing off for a goal kick.
In the 71st minute, FC Talanta’s Francis Kahiro made another attempt for goal after receiving a pass into the area from a counter-attack but the ball went wide, maintaining the scores at 0-0.
Francis Kahiro, went on to strike the lone goal with four minutes left on the clock. This was after Nairobi Stima mounted a resolute defense, that finally caved in to pressure from the promotion candidates
FC Talanta, following the win, currently stand nine points clear of second-placed Fortune Sacco, who will play against Shabana on Wednesday.
