Harambee Starlets has advanced to the second round of the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers after beating South Sudan 1-7 today, on Saturday, October 23, 2021, in their return leg match at Nyayo Stadium.
Captain Mwanahalima Dogo mastered a brace putting Kenya at the front foot in the first half with a 2-0 scoreline.
Right after the breather, Coach Okere made a double substitution bringing in Jentrix Shikangwa and Lorna Nyabuto for Martha Amunyolet and Tereza Engesha respectively.
Jentrix Shikangwa’s brace, while Janet Bundi, Lydia Akoth, and Neddy Atieno each found the target once which saw Harambee Starlets gain five more goals in the second half. South Sudan managed to pull one back with a freekick that was converted by Amy Lasu. This summed up the full-time scores to 7-1.
Starlets continue in their race to Morocco after beating South Sudan 15-1 on aggregate. On Monday, October 26, 2021, they will find out who they will be playing against, between Ethiopia and Uganda, in the second round of the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers.
