World football governing body FIFA has lifted the suspension on Kenyan Football.

The news was communicated via a letter dated Monday, November 28, 2022, from FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura sent to the FKF CEO Barry Otieno.

FKF was suspended in February for government interference after former CS Amina Mohammed disbanded the Federation on Thursday, November 11, 2021, and appointed a caretaker committee to run the game in the country.

New Sports CS Ababu Namwamba had earlier reinstated FKF after meetings with various key football stakeholders

The lifting of the suspension opens the way for Kenyan National teams and clubs to participate in CAF and FIFA international competitions.

FKF CEO Barry Otieno said the Federation was thankful and ready to continue the work of driving Kenyan football forward.

“This is good news for every Kenyan football stakeholder; players, coaches, clubs, and fans. We have lost a year but now is the time to come together and rebuild for a stronger game.”

In the letter communicating the lifting of the suspension, FIFA general secretary Fatma Samaoura said a CAF/FIFA delegation will be sent to Nairobi to define the next steps for the Federation and meet the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Sports.
