Nzoia Sugar maintained their leadership of the FKF Premier League with an imposing victory over youthful Kariobangi Sharks in Round 15 action at the Utalii Grounds.

Sharks coach William Muluya had promised to ‘give the league leaders a game’ and his side did just that in the opening exchanges, with Keith Imbali scoring in the 9th minute.

In the second half, Nzoia took control of the contest through a Joseph Mwangi quickfire double in the 50th and 53rd minutes. Sharks defender Timothy Imala scored an own goal to put the match beyond his team.

Elsewhere Gor Mahia’s purple patch continued as they beat Tusker 2-1 at the MISC Kasarani.

Sydney Ochieng opened the scores for Gor Mahia in the 31st minute before Shami Mwinyi restored parity with a curling free-kick past Gad Mathews.

Benson Omalla scored the winning goal through a penalty in the 84th minute.

Gor Mahia remain second a point behind the league leaders with one round left in the first leg of the league.

Elsewhere Mathare United clawed a precious victory beating Vihiga Bullets 1-0 while KCB climbed to third after dispatching Sofapaka with an identical margin.
