The hunt for glory resumes in the Mozzart Bet Cup round of 16 this weekend.
On Saturday, the Afande Derby takes center stage: Kenya Police FC and Ulinzi face each other in a knockout game for the first time this season. (Kick-off at 3:15 LIVE on KBC)
They have played barren draws in the league so far this season but on Saturday one Afande must bite the bullet.
Ulinzi Captain James Saruni says the derby is a must-watch.
“I have to warn our opponents; they are our brothers but it will not be easy for them. We are ready for this big game.”
Kenya Police FC Coach Francis Baraza, says they expect a tough game but they are focused on being the last team standing.
“It’s going to be a good game. We know that one team must go home and our focus is on making sure we are the ones left in the competition.”
Also on Saturday, FKF NSL side, Darajani Gogo play FKF PL side Sofapaka. The community team from Kibra, now in their 8th year, have always dreamt of playing continental football, and they see the Mozzart Bet Cup as their big chance.
“We are a small community club, but we are not afraid. We believe in ourselves and that is all that matters,” CEO Abdulrazak Roba says.
At Kasarani Annex, FKF Division one side Rainbow will face league Champions Tusker but the club, which is part of a global consortium of clubs with branches in Dubai, Cameroon, USA, and Spain say they are ready for the challenge.
“This club is built on the idea of preparing players to play in Europe and top leagues across the world, so a Premier League side is not a problem for us,” coach Eric Macharia says.
