Is this the season Gaspo Women win the FKF Women’s Premier League?

They believe it is.

With only 8 matches left to the finish line, Gaspo Women are currently top of the table on goal difference ahead of Vihiga Queens with whom they are tied at 31 points.

Gaspo Women have also scored the most goals in the league and have the strongest backline, conceding only eight times.

And the team is making big moves signing up experienced tactician Jacob Ghost Mulee.

” I liked the way they play the game. And I am here to help to raise the level of the team. With my experience, my joy is just to make a positive impact on this team.”

The former Harambee Stars coach says the FKF Women’s Premier League is a tough league.

“The league is very competitive. Vihiga Queens have been champions for a while, there are other good teams such as Zetech Sparks and Ulinzi Starlets; we are currently top but I still believe the team can go to a higher level, and if we do that, we will get our reward.”

Gaspo play Zetech Sparks on Sunday at GEMS Cambridge and Mulee reiterated how they are going for nothing short of a win.

“We are going to play Zetech Sparks in matchday 15 this Sunday. The goal is to get nothing short of three points.”

Gaspo Women midfielder Lydia Akoth has bagged a total of 7 goals this season and she echoed the coach’s sentiments on winning the league.

“We are going to pick up the three points at GEMS. This season we have to lift the trophy and to do that we have to pick up wins in the next eight matches.”

On her seven goals this season, she said her secret is teamwork.

“It’s a great feeling to feature in the top scorers’ list and the secret to this is nothing short of teamwork. On the ground, I need to be fed the ball in order to create chances and get goals for my team, and my fellow players do just that for me, ” said Lydia Akoth.

This Easter Weekend, the FKF Women Premier League enters matchday 15 across different venues. Ulinzi Starlets travel to Kisumu to play Kisumu Allstarlets. This will be the only match on Saturday.

On Sunday, Vihiga Queens face Trans Nzoia Falcons at the Mumias Sports Complex in a crucial match that will determine whether they rise to the top once more or Gaspo Women widens the gap between them.

At Camp Toyoyo, Kangemi Ladies meet with Kayole Starlet in a relegation derby. Nakuru City Queens play Thika Queens and Bunyore Starlet face Wadadia.
